Sacramento Housing Authority Housing Voucher 

Waiting Lists Set to Open January 12, 2022 


Sacramento, CA | The County of Sacramento Housing Authority will open the Housing Choice Voucher Program Tenant Based Voucher waiting list effective Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 8 a.m. until Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. Applicants may apply at www.sacwaitlist.com using any device with internet access. A total of 5,000 applicants will be placed on the waiting list through random selection after the waiting list has closed. 


Additional waiting lists for project-based voucher and affordable housing will open on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 8 a.m.until further notice: 


  1. Mirasol Village Project-Based Voucher, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Bedrooms
  2. Elderly Project-Based Voucher (62 years or older, or near elderly), 1 Bedroom
  3. Affordable Housing Waiting List Moderate Rehab Program Single Room Occupancy (SRO) 


There is no charge to apply and applicants must have an email address to submit a pre-application.


Waiting list preferences are given to families who are homeless or rent burdened, have a family member who is a veteran, have a family member who is disabled, and who live or work in Sacramento County. 


The Housing Authority of the County of Sacramento’s housing programs serve very low income families and individuals. Eligible families will receive rental assistance as funds are available. Criminal background checks are conducted on all adults applying for housing.

SHRA (www.shra.org) is a Joint Powers Authority created by the City and County of Sacramento to represent both jurisdictions for affordable housing and community redevelopment needs. SHRA has a FY 2021 budget of $214 million and 250 employees. The Agency owns and/or manages approximately 3,200 units of affordable housing and is one of the largest landlords in Sacramento.
