Section 8 Housing Choice Program: located throughout Marin County

In this federally funded program, rental assistance is provided to low-income families in privately owned apartments throughout the community. The family pays 30% of its income for rent. Marin Housing pays the remainder of the rent up to the maximum allowed by federal guidelines. The Section 8 Housing Choice Program is Marin County's largest supplier of low-income affordable housing. Golden Gate Village: located in Marin City
A rental-housing community for low-income families funded by the federal government and owned by Marin Housing. This public housing complex has 292 apartments for residents and eight community spaces. The family pays 30% of its income for rent. Sundance Apartments: located in San Rafael

This rental-housing complex for low-income families is locally funded. The complex has 28 apartments, a pool and is close to public transportation. For information about eligibility and the status of the waiting list click here.

Isabel Cook Homes: located in San Anselmo

These attractive town homes are funded by the state of California. The 18 homes face the park, are close to public transportation and community facilities. For information about eligibility and the status of the waiting list click here.

Fairfax Vest Pocket Community: located in Fairfax
This group of six homes offers shared living to single parents and senior citizens. They are located in a quite residential area, near public transportation, parks and schools and offers community space for the residents.
