How do these BMR homes come into the Marin Housing First-Time Homebuyer Program?

When a developer is building a new development, they are required by the local jurisdiction to provide a certain percentage of the total units being built to the BMR Program, to be sold as affordable housing units.

In the case of theStrand, a development consisting of 3 and 4-bedroom homes, the City required the developer to provide units of similar bedroom size to the BMR Program. There will be a total of 17 BMR homes sold at theStrand, including sixteen 3-bedroom BMR’s and one 2-bedroom unit, sold through Marin Housing’s First Time Homebuyer BMR Program.
